Fall Yard Care Products

 Fall Product Highlights

Claybuster

Is a combination of calcium, sulphur and humic acid that will break up heavy clay particles present in soils,
allowing roots of plants to seek out rich nutrients that are usually abundant in such soils.  One bag will cover 1000 sq feet.

Peat Moss
Adding 1-2 inch of peat moss to your flowers bed will increase the soil’s water retention, improve the soil structure and promote good drainage.
Peat moss does not contain many nutrients, but it will improve you soils nutrient retention ability.

Peat moss can also be used cover your tender perennial and shrubs, such as some hydrangea varieties and roses.

Manure or Compost
In addition to adding peat moss to the beds, manure and compost are also an excellent amendment.  These products will add nutrients to the soil.
This will in turn promote good root and plant growth next spring.

In total you can apply 1-2 inches of materials on top of your existing soil.  Once applied it is a good idea to till or turn the soil to mix the
amendments with the existing soils.

Turkey Trott
Turkey Trott is a granular, organic fertilizer that will build up in your soil, improving it year by year.
It can be used in gardens, flower beds and on the lawn.  A little goes a long way. A 10 kg bag is equal to one cubic yard of manure.

GARDENSTRAW
Come late October it is essential to mulch your perennials and shrubs.  This will help them over winter.  We suggest the use of GARDEN STRAW.
This comes as a clean, weed, pest and disease free product.  It will help protect those tender perennials as well as keep moisture in the ground.
And because the seeds have been removed GARDENSTRAW does not attract rodents.  Garden straw can then be tilled into the soil next spring adding
nutrients and aeration.
Garden Straw can also be left on top of the soil all season long.  It will help keep weeds from germinating.  It will help keep the soil cool and
moist in the hot summer.

GARDENSTRAW can also be used when seeding an area.  A thin layer of straw will help keep grass seed in place, keep the soil moist and protected from harsh
winter conditions.

GARDENSTRAW is a clean alternative to peat moss for covering your tender plants.

Skoot
As the leaves turn and start falling and the grass gets covered with snow, your friendly neighbourhood deer, rabbits, voles and other critters start
seeing your plants as their next buffet. It is very important to protect your plants.  Especially frit trees and shrubs and cedars.  Although animals will
eat almost any type of plant if they are hungry enough.

Skoot is a repellent that was developed to taste bad to the animals, after one taste they won't come back for more.  It is can be
applied  once the trees and shrubs are dormant.  But before it gets below zero during the day time.

You can apply Skoot by painting the undiluted product directly on the bark or by diluting it with equal parts of water and
spraying it on the plants using a pump sprayer.  This is the easiest way by far.
For shrubs, you want to apply a light spray of Skoot starting at the base of the plant and going approximately four to five feet high.
You have to picture how high up can a rabbit reach when it is sitting on top of the snow in mid winter.

For trees you want a light spray on all sides of the trunk and on the lower branches again in the 4-5 ft range.  Make sure that you get
all sides of the trunk.

SKOOT Repellent for Rabbits, Mice and Deer concentrate when applied, will protect on an
average the following number of plants, according to size:
